4th grade ukulele is our beginner ukulele course. Students will learn basic ukulele concepts such as:
- Reading Rhythms
- Reading Notation
- Identifying notes on the staff
- History of the ukulele
- Identifying parts of the ukulele
- How to hold and care for the instrument
- Tuning
- Finger Picking vs. Strumming
- Reading music using a tablature
- Reading music on the staff
5th Grade ukulele |

5th grade ukulele is our advanced beginner course. This class is made up of new students to Saint Mark and Alumni. Students at this level already know how to read music on the staff and tablature. The year starts with a review of beginner classes and advances to harder lessons by the end of the year. Students learn concepts such as:
- Tuning
- Advanced Tablature Reading
- Advanced Sheet Music
- Notating Chords
- Advanced Chords (past C7, C, Am, F, G, Em)
- Different Types of Strumming Patterns
- Singing while playing the ukulele
- Group Performances
- Solo performances
- Playing melody AND rhythm as a class
